1 billion to fund crypto projects: that’s the ambition of one of the Web3 ecosystem’s largest funds

Pantera Capital, a blockchain investment giant, aims to raise $1 billion to invest in various areas of the cryptocurrency market. Its new fund, dubbed “Pantera Fund V”, is said to be the largest since the bear market began in 2022.

Soon $1 billion to participate in the growth of the cryptocurrency market?

Pantera Capital, one of the largest investment funds in the blockchain ecosystem, is looking to raise $1 billion to invest in a variety of verticals, including shares in select Web3 startups, early-stage tokens, as well as select cryptocurrencies.

The fund, which is invested in almost all major blockchain projects (1inch, Ankr, Arbitrum, Circle, Cosmos, Wintermute, Bitstamp, Coinbase and Starkware), had already managed to raise $1.25 billion two years ago.

Called “Pantera Fund V”, this fund would be the largest in terms of capital raised collectively since the start of the 2022 bear market. Indeed, following the fall in Bitcoin’s price and an overall drop in interest in the market, fund managers have had difficulty raising new capital.

However, renewed interest in the cryptocurrency market, centered around a rising Bitcoin price and its institutionalization, seems to have given investors renewed hope. Pantera Capital’s goal is proof of this, as is that of Paradigm, also one of the largest funds in the ecosystem, which recently unveiled its ambition to raise $850 million.

It was Paradigm, in fact, that had set up the largest crypto fund on the market after raising $2.5 billion in November 2021. This record has since been beaten by the giant Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), which managed to raise $4.5 billion 2 years ago.

For Pantera Fund V, qualified investors must invest a minimum of $1 million to participate. Limited partners will be required to contribute a minimum of $25 million. Pantera Capital’s fundraising campaign is scheduled to close in 2025.
