Paxful opens free Bitcoin (BTC) education centre in El Salvador

Cryptocurrency exchange platform Paxful has made official the opening of “La Casa del Bitcoin”, a centre dedicated to Bitcoin education that has taken root in El Salvador. The building will also house the offices of Built With Bitcoin, an association that wants to use Bitcoin to provide humanitarian aid to populations in need.

A school dedicated to Bitcoin

Paxful, the peer-to-peer cryptocurrency exchange, has announced the opening of “La Casa Del Bitcoin”, an educational centre that will educate the people of El Salvador about the workings and challenges of Bitcoin (BTC).

El Salvador was the first country in the world to introduce Bitcoin as an official currency alongside the dollar in September 2021. However, a large part of the population is still not familiar with the technological environment of cryptocurrencies.

The centre will also provide the necessary tools for small traders and surrounding businesses to master Bitcoin as a local currency, but also on an international scale. La Casa Del Bitcoin will offer regular events and free training

“Peer-to-peer platforms are the face of emerging markets, and as a platform powered by our community, we understand that education is integral to greater adoption,” said Ray Youssef, Paxful’s CEO, before adding, “The centre will provide education, accessibility and opportunities to master the real benefits of Bitcoin to a population that has been left behind by traditional finance. “

A non-profit centre

In addition to providing free Bitcoin education, the facility will also house the offices of the Built With Bitcoin Foundation, a non-profit humanitarian organization that aims to use Bitcoin to provide sustainable agriculture, clean water, and access to quality education in five African countries.

The projects we are launching demonstrate the power of Bitcoin as a philanthropic tool that can enable change and also provide financial empowerment. We are grateful to have the ability to provide resources and to be able to continue to create opportunities for the countless people and communities that bring our mission to life.” – Yusuf Nessary, co-founder of Built With Bitcoin.

Although Paxful is a cryptocurrency exchange platform operating in over 100 countries around the world, El Salvador was not chosen by chance. In addition to adopting Bitcoin as a currency, the country’s inhabitants seem to be increasingly interested in the possibilities it offers.

In fact, according to Will Hernandez, Paxful’s Latin American development manager, the platform has seen a 300% increase in Salvadoran users.

However, while El Salvador has shown a continued interest in Bitcoin, it has also been hindered by international bodies. For example, at the end of January, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) threatened to withhold a loan if it refused to abandon the use of Bitcoin.
